First update of 2010!!

A very good friend of mine, Patrick Beaulieu, is releasing an awesome book on animation workflow. As I lent a hand in the editing phase, I can honestly tell you that the content is trully amazing. A slew of talented artists participated in the project and graced the book with unique insight on their approach to animation.

Here is some info on it:

Animation Insiders is a book, a platform for talented animators to share their thoughts, experiences and workflow tips. Their contributions will certainly enhance, if not change, the views of the readers; hopefully influencing their careers and eventually impacting their lives. We, ourselves, strive to become better animators, and working on this book has already changed us considerably in so many ways. We strongly believe that somewhere in this book, somebody will find a recipe to achieve magic!

Freshly back from vacation and already an update!

I have been picked by the Tzara gallery in Québec City to exhibit a couple of photographs along with three other artists -Amélie Bedard, Mathieu Fortin and Catherine Potvin-.

The vernissage will take place  today, friday 23rd @ 5pm at the Hotel de Ville (City Hall) in the presence of the mayor and city officials.
The show is called La relève en 4 Temps and is going to run from the 23rd of October until the 6th of December. If you are in the area, please stop by and let me know what you think!

P.S: The flyers/posters/billboards for the exhibit are commissioned pieces designed by me for the City of Québec/ Tzara Gallery.

Last week, we had the great honor of welcoming Andrew Gordon at work. Currently working on Toy Story 3, Andrew worked on a bunch of  inspiring films such as a Bug’s Life, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, the Incredibles and Ratatouille! He also runs Splinedoctors.com and from time to time, he gives amazing lectures such as the one he gave at Ubisoft last thursday.
I have rarely felt as excited and man was it worth it! I tried my best to absorb as much as I could from the lecture but this stuff never ends and that is what is so fascinating about animation and art in general. We covered a lot of things in one day but who  really ever gets tired of hearing great people like Andrew talk? Certainly not me! So if you ever get a chance of attending a masterclass or a workshop by Mr. Gordon, go for it! It is inspiring!

Things are moving fast these days! Last friday, the Tzara gallery in Québec City  held its first official exhibit called “Impulsion” (up from february 27th “til March 20th) and I had the honor to have my work (photographs) presented there.
